Aspens decline in northern Arizona (KPHO Phoenix)

PHOENIX Aspen trees are fast disappearing from Arizona mountains. The distinctive white-barked trees have been declining rapidly since the 1960s. The decline has been caused by elk eating saplings and a freeze in 1999 that left the trees susceptible to problems like fungus.
